Ella Lena (Barz) Rosendahl, 96, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 at Concord Care Center in Garner, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, at Peace Reformed Church at Garner with Rev. Jeff DeBoer officiating. Music was provided by Connie Greiman, organist; Jody St. John and Joan Arndt, duet; Tom and Janelle Renner, duet. Interment was at Ell Township Cemetery near Klemme. Casket bearers were Tim Smith, Benjamin Beier, John Snyder, Greg Skubal, Mark Rosendahl, and Lowell Greimann.

Ella Lena Barz was born March 24, 1905 on a farm near Ventura, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Hartbeck) Barz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Reformed Church of Klemme. She attended grade school in the country and at Klemme. Following graduation from Garner High School in 1923, she taught country school in Hancock and Cerro Gordo counties and for many years taught Sunday School and Bible Schools at the Immanuel Reformed Church. Ella married Walter Henry Rosendahl at her parents' home on May 2, 1928, with Rev Calvin Grosshuesch of Immanuel Reformed Church officiating. The couple lived in the Klemme area during their entire 62 years of marriage. Ella enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1990; three brothers, Harvey Barz, Marvin Barz, and Ronald Barz; and a great-grandson, Joshua Rosendahl. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Ardell and Ida Rosendahl of Klemme, Iris and Richard Snyder of Cedar Rapids; Ione and Loren Muller of Osage, and Roselea and John Smith of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchild; her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Eugene Greiman of Garner; sisters-in-law, Mabel Barz of Klemme, Gladys Barz of Klemme, and Emma Palmby of St. Paul, MN.
