D. H. Gibbs funeral set for Monday

Donald H. Gibbs 55, office manager and head of the accounting department of Northwestern States Portland Cement Co., died suddenly Friday night at his home 17 River Heights Drive. Mr. Gibbs was born Jan. 6, 1909 at Klemme, son of Arthur C. and Emma (Terhufen) Gibbs. He was graduated from the Klemme High School in 1927 and attended Morningside College, Sioux City and Mason City Junior College. He served in the U.S Navy in World War II including service with a landing craft infantry patrol on the Palaus in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Mr. Gibbs started his employment with Northwestern States Portland Cement Co. in 1931 as auditor and had been employed by the company continuously since 1935.

He was married to Virginia Mullaney, April 18, 1936, in Mason City. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Rosemary, and a son John, at home; two brothers, Charles Gibbs, Mason City and Frank Gibbs, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a son, Donald.

Arrangements by Kee Colonial Chapel. Visitation at the chapel was scheduled from Sunday noon until the time of services. Pallbearers selected are Robert Walsh, Frank Pirkl, C.E.(Chuck) Bush, Paul Swanziger, Merlin Borcharding and Don Giesen. Marjorie Walsh and Gertrude Pirkl are in charge of flowers. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, with military rites by the Mason City Veterans Association.
