Ernest Boelkes, 72, of Iowa Falls, passed away Monday at the Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, Iowa. Natural causes; Heart failure following a battle with emphysema. Funeral services will be at 10:30 Friday at the Church of the Nazarene, Iowa Falls, with burial to follow at Friends Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Visitation will be from 2:00 TO 8:00 PM Thursday at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, with the family receiving friends between the hours of 6:00 AND 8:00 PM.

Ernest Boelkes was born August 2, 1929 at his parents farm in Franklin County, Iowa, the son of Hilko and Lena (Meyer) Boelkes. He attended rural Franklin County country schools. On November 27, 1955 he was united in marriage to Wilma Irene Ammerman at Alexander, Iowa. They farmed in the Alexander and Latimer, Iowa areas and then he operated Ernie's Conoco Station, Latimer, Iowa from 1976 - 1983. He then retired to Iowa Falls but had worked for Gasoline Alley, Iowa Falls. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Iowa Falls.

Ernest is survived by his wife: Wilma Boelkes of 407 River Street, Iowa Falls; one daughter: Sharan Boelkes and husband Steve Rummans of Atlantic, Iowa; three grandchildren: Nikki Boelkes of Iowa Falls, Steven Wheeler of Webster City, Iowa, Tery Rummans of Atlantic; two brothers: Joe Boelkes of Hampton, Iowa, Walter Boelkes of Hartsburg, Missouri; and five sisters: Jeanette Nehring of Mason City, Iowa, Helen Brandt of Bradford, Iowa, Jo Ann Martin of Rowan, Iowa, Irene Boelkes of Hampton, Iowa, and Edna Wright of Hampton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hilko and Lena Boelkes; and one brother: Herman Boelkes.
