Rites set for Henry Chance
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, for Henry Chance, 50, who died early Monday morning of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. He died at his home at Little Cedar. The Rev. Bud Wilder, pastor of the Little Cedar United Methodist church will be in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial will be at Alden.
Henry C. Chance was born November 6, 1913, at Dows, the son of Lom and Annie Oaks Chance. He was graduated from high school at Popejoy. Marion Dass and Henry Chance were married February. 22, 1941. Mrs. Chance died May 12, 1972.
Mr. Chance farmed in the Little Cedar community and had retired as driver of the bulk service for Standard Oil. He was a member of the Little Cedar church and the Moose Lodge.Surviving are one son, Robert of Colona, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Nolan {Barbara} of Lake Mills: one granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Ralph Colberg [Avonell] of Freedom, California. Preceding him in death were his wife, Marion, his parents, one brother and one sister.

LITTLE CEDAR, IOWA - Services for Henry C. Chance, 59, who was found dead at his home Monday of a self inflicted shotgun wound, according to Mitchell County Sheriff's office, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Robert of Colona, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Nolan Hartley of Lake Mills, a sister, Mrs. Ralph Colberg of Freedom, California; and one grandchild.
