Wayne Stewart, 92, died June 19, 2010 at his home in Radcliffe. Services will be held July 3 at the Alden United Church of Christ. Wayne was born in Fayette on April 10, 1918. He grew up in West Point, NE and served in WWII where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross three times. He worked at several jobs in several parts of the country, retiring in 1988. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Cary, his second wife Ruth Sandfos and his third wife Dorothy Johnson Muscolo; two sisters; and a daughter. He is survived by a daughter in Woodbine, a son in Los Angeles, CA, a daughter in Radcliffe, and daughter Jane (Brian) Bangs of Dows and their children Kate, Dana and Nick; a brother; and a sister.

Wayne Stewart, 92, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home in Radcliffe surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. Memorial services will be held at the United Church of Christ in Alden, Iowa, on July 3 at 2 p.m. Born in Fayette, Iowa, April 10, 1918, Wayne spent his childhood in West Point, Nebraska, earning his BA from Nebraska Wesleyan. He served in WWII as a pilot in CBI and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross three times. Returning from overseas, Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Carey and he worked for the Roy S. Durstine Ad Agency in Manhatten and Leo Burnett Ad Agency in Chicago. After being widowed, Wayne married Ruth Sandfos. They then moved to St. Louis where he worked for Gardner Advertising. Wanting to return to their small town roots, Wayne and Ruth moved to Orange City, Iowa, where they ran the Sioux County Capital, the local newspaper, for over a decade. In 1974, Wayne and Ruth moved to Alden, Iowa, so Wayne could take a job teaching at Ellsworth Community College and later serve as advertising director for Riverside Book and Bible. He retired in 1988. He was widowed again later that year. In 1990 Wayne was married for the final time to Dorothy Johnson Muscolo. They resided in Portland, OR but made frequent trips back to the midwest to visit friends and family. Their time together ended in 2000 with Dorothy's death.

Wayne leaves behind to celebrate his life a daughter Dr. Jean (Chuck) Griesel of Woodbine, Iowa; a son Robert (Alicia) Stewart; a daughter Susan (Brian Weigel) Stewart, Radcliffe; and a daughter Jane (Brian) Bangs, Dows; a brother Robert (Dorothy) Stewart of Overland Park, KS. and a sister Joan (Kent) Johnson of Oakland, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marian Carlton Urban and Vema Andersen, wives Mary, Ruth and Dorothy, and daughter Mary Morris. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials that will be directed to a charity of Wayne's choice.
