EAGLE GROVE - Jim Jorgensen, 79, of Eagle Grove died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, IA. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 9th at Eagle Grove United Methodist Church. Cemetery internment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove beginning at 9 a.m.; visitation at Eagle Grove United Methodist Church at 10 a.m.; memorial service at 11 a.m. followed by lunch in the church basement.

Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Connie, of Eagle Grove. He is also survived by his sons, Jim and wife Judy of Clarion, IA; Mark and wife Deb of Fort Dodge, IA; and daughter Kim and husband Mason Crum of Efland, NC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom he was extremely proud.

Jim worked as a professional mason for over 50 years and was a lifetime member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. His masterful craftsmanship can be seen at numerous structures throughout North-Central Iowa including the Fort Dodge YMCA and the accompanying mural. He proudly served in the Iowa National Guard and was extremely active in his church and the Eagle Grove community, serving as a Trustee at the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church and was Chair of the elevator committee, which gave all members of the church full access to church activities. Jim also donated thousands of volunteer hours to a wide variety of projects to benefit those members of the community that were less fortunate than he. Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, caring man that never had a cross word for anyone he knew or came into contact with. An avid outdoorsman, he had a special love for Lake Wabedo in Minnesota where Jim enjoyed teaching others about the beauty and importance of protecting our natural environment, except for those walleyes and crappies that he would harvest to share with others in one of his world-class fish fries. For those so inclined, in lieu of flowers the family would prefer that a gift be made to the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church.

[wife - Connie (Godfrey) Jorgensen]
