Surrounded by family members, Robert (Bob) Alan Ekstrom, 70, passed away on May 30 at Trinity Regional Hospital [in Fort Dodge, Iowa]. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 1 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. and the funeral will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. Both will held at the Gunderson Funeral Home. Bob was born on June 30, 1939 in Vincent, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Bernadine (Hofmann) Ekstrom. He attended school in Newark Township, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Eagle Grove Junior College. After serving in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Germany, Bob returned to the family farm in Vincent. Bob managed the family purebred Duroc swine operation until his retirement. His breeding stock won many awards at shows in several states, national breed conferences and the National Barrow Show. Bob enjoyed and followed many sports. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and supporter. He enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge of sports and other interests with many friends.

Bob is survived by his brother Kent (Alice) of Aitkin, MN; his sister Carol of Tucson, AZ; his niece Kendra Thompson (John) and five great-nephews and nieces: Jack, Madeleine, Grace, Mariel, and Paul, of Princeton, MN; and his special friend Sheila Porth of Fort Dodge.
