Eldon A. Pals, 64, formerly of Belmond, died May 8, 2010 at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20 at Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond with Rev. Troy Pfilbsen officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Eldon was born September 27, 1945 in Hampton to Dick D.L. and Margaret (Kalkwarf) Pals. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge in 1968 he attended NIACC in Mason City, graduating in 1970. He worked at several area companies, including Winnebago Industries in Forest City. During his several years as a resident of the veterans home he enjoyed crafts, bingo and watching TV. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Keith; and brother-in-law Roy Johnson. Eldon is survived sisters Shirley (Ronald) Johnson and Marilyn (Larry) Suntken of Belmond; brothers Marlin Pals of Lincoln, NE and Howard (Connie) Pals of Scottsdale, AZ; five nieces; and two nephews.
