THORNTON, IA - Anna Wilhelmine Floy was born on May 3, 1900 in Franklin County, Iowa near Meservey, Iowa, the daughter of Wm. H. and Christina (Wehlau) Schmale. She received her baptism on June 18, 1900 in Rockwell, Iowa and was confirmed on Aug. 31, 1919 in the St. Paul American Lutheran Church, in Thornton Iowa by Pastor Wm. Engelke. On January 7, 1921, she was united in marriage to Christian C. Floy and lived on a farm southwest of Thornton until they retired in August of 1952. Her childhood was spent with her parents and family, attending school in Wisner Center country school.

She is survived by two sons, Delbert and his wife, Mary, of Thornton and Oscar, of Thornton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son. Anna Floy passed away on March 8, 1999 in the Sheffield Care Center, in Sheffield, Iowa. Her services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999 in the St. Paul American Lutheran Church, in Thornton, Iowa with the Rev. Robert Hetrick officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, in Thornton, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home in Thornton.
