MASON CITY - Mrs. Helen G. Fiedler, 99, of Mason City, died Friday (May 21, 1999) at the Sunrise Health Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Rich Murray of First Covenant Church, Mason City, officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday. The family suggests memorials to the Helen G. Fiedler Memorial Fund.

Helen was born Feb. 21, 1900, in rural Clear Lake, the daughter of Frederick and Eudora (Hayes) Damson. She married Warren M. (Nifty) Fiedler on July 10, 1926, in Clear Lake. They farmed north of Ventura, where she enjoyed raising flowers, raising children, gardening and most of all, her grandchildren. They later moved to an acreage near Meservey, and in 1979 moved to Mason City. Due to ill health, she moved into the care center in 1993.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Virginia Farris, of Clarion and Edna Ruppelt, of Mason City; a son, Merle Fiedler, of Thornton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1995; one brother; one sister; one grandson and two son-in-laws.
