January 29, 2000RENWICK, IA - Howard LeRoy Dasch, 98, of Renwick, died Friday (Jan. 28, 2000) at the Kanawha Community Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Renwick, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery, Renwick. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.
Howard LeRoy Dasch was born Aug. 15, 1901, the son of Paul and Lily Glendora (Bullard) Dasch, near Noble, Ill. Howard attended school in Illinois and spent time in Storm Lake and Casper, Wyo., before settling in Renwick in 1923. Howard was a farmer by trade. In later years, he would truck livestock and grain and worked at the Algona Sale Barn. He retired from the sale barn at the age of 78 years. Howard was united in marriage to Vera Mae Weyer on Feb. 7, 1934. One daughter, Marilyn, was born to this union. Howard and Vera spent their married life in Renwick, LuVerne and Kanawha. Howard spent seven years in Corwith before going to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the Corwith and Renwick Baptist Churches, a member of the Isaac Walton League at Renwick, and served as president of the Senior Citizens in Renwick. He was a charter member of the Saddle Club in Renwick.
Left to celebrate his life are his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Lint, of Kanawha; six grandchildren, Rodney Deibler of Ankeny, Krista (Gary) Day of White Bear Lake, Minn., Joni (Todd) Mostad of Maplewood, Minn., Londa (Doug) Fabio of Shoreview, Minn., John (Melissa) Crock of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Matthew (Laura) Crock of South St. Paul, Minn.; one step grandson, John Wayne (Melissa) Lint, Cedar Rapids; seven great grandchildren, Josie Bayers, Jamie Bayers, Nathan Day, Derek Deibler, Connor Fabio, Emily Crock and Joseph Crock; and one step great granddaughter, Abigail Lint. Those sharing his life that have preceded him in death were his parents, Paul Dasch in 1907, and Dora Dasch Tate in 1953; his wife, Vera, in 1975; four brothers, Paul Dasch, Luther Tate, Virgil Tate and Russell Tate (infant); and three sisters, Gertrude Allie, Anna May Moser and Dorothy Thompson. Howard, who was a friend to all, will be remembered for his kindness and his sense of humor.
