January 18, 1922 -- January 9, 2005

H. Ken Bailey, born January 18, 1922, died January 9th, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. Ken was born and raised in Belmond, Iowa. Throughout his life he felt connected to the town of Belmond and of the many cousins and friends who lived there. Ken was in combat in WWII in Europe. After the war he went to work for the Boeing Company and rose to be a General Manager. Always interested in new assignments, he was Base Manager and Production Engineering Manager at various sites and also was Deputy General Manager for Boeing in Iran and General Manager for Boeing in the Dominican Republic. Ken retired from Boeing at age 56 after 35 years and found he did not care for retirement. So, he began a new and successful career as Consultant to the Air Force. After 10 years he retired again and again found he did not like retirement. So, in his seventies, he became a part time Contract Administrator for Koster Landscape Maintenance Co. and was still working at age 82. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ellen; 3 daughters, Karen, Nancy and Sandy; 5 grandchildren, Wayne, Aaron, Wendy, Christine and Rachel; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Keith and Floyd and nieces and nephews. However busy and however far away in his challenging jobs, he always had time for his family. Burial in Washington Memorial Park, SeaTac, Washington.
