Leona Cecelia Strem, 97, of Fertile, Iowa died October 26, 2006 at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile. Funeral Services will be on Monday, October 30, at 11 a.m. at First Evanger Lutheran Church of Fertile. Visitation will be for one hour before the services at the church. Leona Strem is survived by a daughter Lavonne (Alden) Jallo of Fertile, sister in law, Polly Strem of Crookston, 6 grandchildren, Bruce Jallo, Gay Jallo, Joan (David) Ruen, Jan (Leslie) Strem, Todd (Julie) Strem And Cory Strem, 7 great grandchildren.

Leona Strem was born on October 5, 1909 to Ora and Julia Wallace at Eagle Grove, Iowa. The family moved to Fertile when she was five and she worked for area restaurants after graduation. She married Joan “Luther” Strem on October 16, 1930 in Crookston. They farmed in the Fertile area and after retiring they owned and operated L and L Café in Fertile. Her husband died in 1967 and she entered Fair Meadow Nursing Home in 1994.
