God called longtime Lancaster [California] resident, Sybil Margaret Denger, home on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the age of 90. Sybil was born on June 29, 1919, to Ruby and William Laughlin Sr., in Dows, Iowa. She lived in Iowa until moving to California in 1963. Sybil worked for Sears Roebuck And Co., until her retirement in 1985, after 20 years of service. After retirement she was a volunteer at AVHMC in the gift shop and volunteer office. She also helped at the American Cancer Society. Sybil leaves behind many friends and family who mourn the loss of her presence. Sybil is survived by daughters Judy (Marvin) Snodgrass of Lancaster; Joni (Bob) Leiker of Ogden, Utah; grandchildren; Mike (Diane) Jensen, Doug (Pia) Jensen, Juli (Brett) Bicksler, Alan Young, Lori (Ed) Limon, Rachel Leiker, Andrew Leiker, and Mackenzie Leiker; great-grandchildren; Addie, Goia and Janna Jensen, Chase and Michael Jensen, Kyle (Nichole) Phipps and Heather Phipps, Robert and Brett Young. She was preceded in death by daughter Janna Wathen; brother William Laughlin Jr., and sister Ardath Hudnall. The family wishes to thank Jo, Rose, Mary and Roger for their wonderful care the last years of her life. Thanks also, to Hoffman Hospice for making her last days comfortable, and June Kolf for the many times she visited and prayed with her. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her name, 1710 Webster, Oakland, CA 94612.
