Edna Alvine Gillespie was born the daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles H. Long. November 2, 1880, in Tipton, Iowa and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Phil Beckerdite, Lake City, Iowa, August 5, 1957, at the age of 76 years. On October 30, 1901, she was united in marriage with Roy Mortimer Gillespie. To this union three daughters were born, Marvyl, Gayle and Maxine. She spent her entire married life at the farm home three miles east and. one mile north of Renwick, with the exception of the past three years, when she moved with her daughter, Mrs. Phil Beckerdite, to Lake City.

She had been in declining health the past two years, and only her strong will not to become a burden to her family kept her from becoming a bed patient long before she became completely dependent upon others. The last eight weeks of her life were spent in bed, where she spent in bed, great discomforture, but remained patient throughout her ordeal.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Roy M. Gillespie, June 26, 1944. her father and mother, Mr and Mrs Charles Long, and two brothers Ruby Long of Kansas City, Clair Long of Renwick and one sister, Mrs Ethel Davidson of Kansas City, Mo.
She leaves to grieve her passing, her three daughters, Mrs N. R. Yarbrough of Storm Lake, Mrs Phil Beckerdite of Lake City, and Mrs Robert Whyte of Goldfield, and nine grandchildren, Roger and Paul Yarbrough, Robert O'Rourke, Mrs Joe Lane, Mrs Clark Burczewski, Scott Whyte, Michael Whyte. Gary Easier, and Patrick Beckerdite and four sisters, Mrs Florence Plumley of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs Nellie Johnson and Mrs Mabel Eversole of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs Vera Davidson of Marian, Ind.

Services were held last Thursday in the First Methodist Church of Renwick, with the Rev. Roy A. Bieremeyer officiating. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery of Renwick. Mrs Stanley McCurry furnished the music with accompaniment by Mrs. George Bell. Mrs Floyd Lane had charge of floral arrangements. Pallbearers were Alfred Kleen, Bert Martin, Carl Flemmig, Fritz Britt, Robert McGowan, and Everett Nelson.
