19 October 1843 -- 5 May 1907

A sad accident occurred northwest of town, near the old Doyle farm, Saturday at about 7:30 p. m., when A. Hazeman lost his life. Mr. H. was in Williams at 5 p.m. He left Williams at about 6 p. m. The neck yoke which was wired to the horses he was driving became loosened from the tongue. The tongue ran into the ground breaking it. The buggy and Mr. H. were found close together; The buggy was turned upside down throwing Mr. H. out breaking his neck. George Doyle, John Lawless, E. A. Kline, Wm. Lutzke, George and Fred Spanier and Dr. Tedrow were soon there. The body was taken to his home and Gust Hilpipre, his son-in-law, living two miles away, soon came and removed the body to his residence, where the funeral will be probably Tuesday and burial will be in the French cemetery near Woolstock. He was about 65 years of age and leaves two daughters, Mrs. Hilpipre and another near Woolstock, one son. in Illinois and another who has not been found at this writing. He was a kind man and a good neighbor.

W. H. Rick, the undertaker, was lost in going to Gus Hilpipre's Saturday night. About two hours after wandering around through the field, he ran across Tom Franklin who piloted him to Hilpipre's.
