Sharon Hixson-Mersch, 65, Loved family and gardening

Sharon E. Hixson-Mersch was born October 5, 1944 at her home in rural Lucas County, to Robert and Esther Hixson. She was the fifth oldest child of nine children, and spent her childhood in rural Lucas County. She attended country school at Rabbit Ridge, and attended high school in Chariton. Sharon Hixson married Kevin Mersch May 6, 2002 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Her favorite pastimes were camping, gardening and arts and crafts.

Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Esther; and her sister, Janis Brown. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Mersch; daughter, Kelly (Jeff) Kellar; siblings, Don (Jean) Hixson, Maggie (Dean) Malone, Bob (Sharon) Hixson, Lavonna Hixson, Donna (Larry Foster) Hixson, Ronnie (Sonya) Hixson, Dianne (Gary) Webster.

A private service was held Monday for the immediate family. Memorial Contributions should be sent to Iowa Heart Foundation, 5880 University Ave. Suite 101, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
