George Walkner was born in Paige County, Ilinois, October 24, 1856. He emigrated to Iowa when he was eight years old and homesteaded with his mother on a farm near Renwick. He was united in marriage to Miss Kathrine Baumgartner of LuVerne on June 4 1895. To this union eight children were born, five girls and three boys, all of whom are living. Mrs. Roy Smith, Mrs. Elza Simon, and Lloyd of Lake Mills, Mrs. Elling Aske and Mrs. Tjark Hugo of Forest City, and Galya, Parkie and Harold who are still at home. Mr, Walkner has suffered from dropsy and heart trouble for several years, being patient sufferer to the end. Death came to him quietly at four o' clock Monday morning, Dec 21, 1925 at the age of 69 years, 1 month, and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his departure; His loving wife; eight children; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ed Eggerth of Renwick; and three brothers, Fred of Charles City, Frank of Renwick and Joe of Hardy. Funeral Services were held at the Thompson Methodist Church and interment was made in the Thompson Cemetery.
