The Rev. Carl L. Isaacson, 93, of Kanawha, died on Thursday, May 16, 2002, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha. Memorial services were held on Monday, May 20, at the Alert Covenant Church in Leonardville, Kansas. The Rev. Dwight Dille officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leonardville, Kansas. The Ewing Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carl Leonard Isaacson, was born on August 7, 1908 in rural Mustang, Colorado. He was the son of John and Jennie (Erickson) Isaacson. He lived on the family farm in Colorado for several years and helped with his father's farming operation. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in the mid 1940s, where he attended Moody Bible Institute, North Park College, and North Park Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America. Carl was united in marriage to Lenore Bernice Lund on June 14, 1952. To this union one daughter was born.

Rev. Isaacson served churches in the communities of Leonardville, Kansas; Brady, Nebraska; Haxtun, Colorado; Dresden, Kansas; Centerville, Iowa; Beresford, South Dakota; Odebolt, Iowa; and Kiron, Iowa. Due to health reasons, he retired from the ministry in the fall of 1978. After the death of his wife in December of 1985, Rev. Isaacson moved to the Kanawha Community Home so he could be close to his daughter and her family. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching Chicago Cubs baseball games.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara and her husband, Doug Thompson of Kanawha; and two grandsons, Adam Thompson of Ames and Aaron Thompson of Kanawha. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
