MRS. M. H. NEAL DIES AT HOME

Funeral Rites to Be Thursday Afternoon

Mrs. Mabel Hatch Neal, 80, died at 12:22 a. m. Tuesday after a 5 day illness at a local convalescent home, where she had resided since January 1945. Mrs. Neal was the second child of a family of six born to Lucius [editor: Leander Lycurgus Hatch] and Elizabeth [editor: Olive Harriet Colvin] Hatch, Oct. 9, 1866, at Boltonville, Wis. She came to Iowa at the age of 3 with her family and settled near Bristow, where she was married to John Henry Neal, July 2, 1882. They established their first home on a farm near Bristow, and later moved to Belmond in 1905, then to Mason City in 1919. She had continued to reside here since that time.

Surviving are 3 sons, Clifford E. Neal, Greeley, Colo., Bennett C. Neal, Mason City, and Elwyn L. Neal, St. Louis, Mo., and 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Cora Rayburn, Eugene, Ore., and a brother, Olin Hatch, Bronson, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sept. 13, 1941, in Mason City, 3 daughters, Mrs. Olive Warner, Burbank, Cal., in 1939, Mrs. Nata Goodwin, Belmond, 1917, and Berniece, in infancy at Bristow, and two sons, Treloar Neal, Bristow, 1904, and another son in infancy; and by three sisters. Mrs. Neal was a member of the first Christian church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in the chapel of the McAuley and Son funeral home, with the Rev. George O. Marsh, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be at the Belmond cemetery, with interment services at the graveside at 4 p. m. The McAuley and Son funeral home in charge.

Mrs. Mabel Hatch Neal Services Held; Burial at Belmond Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Hatch Neal, 80, who died Tuesday after an illness of about 5 days, were held Thursday afternoon in the chapel of the McAuley and Son funeral home, with the Rev. George O. Marsh, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.

Seymour Angel sang "In the Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. Helen Dunn accompanied. Mrs. Joe Gashel and Mrs. Ivan Barnes were in charge of flowers. Attending the services from out of the city were A. Lee Neal and Mrs. Bennett C. Neal, St. Louis, Mo., Olin L. Hatch, Mary Hatch, Olin R. Hatch and Mrs. Mabel Copenhaver, Bronson, Iowa, and Dorrance Neal, Greeley, Colo. Pallbearers were Ivan Barnes, Max Allison, Al Halsor, Joe Gashel, Stanley Haynes and Neil Garrison, Burial was at Belmond. The McAuley and Son funeral home in charge.
