November 2006MCBAIN. MI - Esther W. Workman of Falmouth died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 89. She was born on Oct. 24, 1917 in Platte, S.D. to Harko and Jennie (Holleman) DeBoer. She married Frederick Workman on Feb. 7, 1946 in Hollandale, Minn. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1955. Mrs. Workman had worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office, for Koetje Egg Company of Falmouth, Aloha Foster Care and for Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids. She was a member of the Falmouth Reformed Church, the Ladies Aid and had taught Sunday school for more than 35 years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, traveling and cooking.
Survivors include her children, Judith Estell of Haulien, Taiwan, Paul F. (Darlene) Workman of Okemos, Cynda (Craig) Pollington of Marion and Del (Sandra) Workman of Falmouth; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul (Kathy) DeBoer of Albert Lea, Minn., Wendell (Tina) DeBoer of Hollandale, Minn., Marie Tilleman of DeMotte, Ind., Evelyn Christians of Kanawha, Iowa, Viola Eekhoff of Kanawha, Iowa and Jennie Loverink of Hollandale, Minn.; in-laws, Alice DeBoer of Hollandale, Minn. and Lena DeBoer of Albert Lea, Minn.; and many other relatives. In addition to her husband, Frederick, Mrs. Workman was preceded in death by son, Darwin Workman on June 18, 1993; son-in-law, William Estelle on April 14, 1990; brothers, Harko DeBoer and Harold DeBoer; and sisters, Nellie (Edward) Tillema, Lillian (William) Bos, Martha (Burt) Coeling, Aries Tillema, Louise Boverhuis and Pearl Klay.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Falmouth Reformed Church with Rev. Robert Hekhuis officiating. Burial will be in Falmouth Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain. Memorial contributions may be made to Falmouth Reformed Church.
