Wilford L. (Stub) Christensen, the son of Holger and Nora (Hansen) Christensen, was born on December 7, 1922, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1941. After graduation, he worked at the family business – Christensen Motor Company – until it was destroyed by a fire in 1998. On September 1, 1945, Wilford married Mary Ellen Smith in Eagle Grove. Stub and Mary Ellen raised three children: Larry Dean, Robert Spencer and Debra Jo. Stub was a member of the United Church of Christ, the Masons and the Civil Air Patrol. In addition to cars, Stub enjoyed camping, fishing and flying.

Wilford passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Careage of Clarion, at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Holger and Nora; brother, Harold Christensen and sister, Betty Jergenson. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Christensen of Eagle Grove; sons, Larry Christensen (Gail) of Eagle Grove and Bob Christensen (Jacquie) of Novato, CA; daughter, Debra (DJ) Christensen of Maple Grove, MN; grandson, Ryan Polsfuss of Madison, WI; brother, Donald Christensen (Lillian) of Eagle Grove and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Pastor James Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
