EAGLE GROVE - Betty Elaine (Pressler) Moffitt was born on July 25, 1920, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Her parents were Roy and Clara M. (Stracke) Pressler. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1938. After completing her education at Eagle Grove Junior College she taught at the Paine Country School. In 1944, she was united in marriage to Walter (Duke) Moffitt. They made their home in Eagle Grove and became the parents of their two children, Mike and Chris. Betty stayed home with her young children but later worked many years as a secretary. In 1980, after Betty retired, she and Duke moved to Verona, Wisconsin. Betty was an accomplished organist and enjoyed playing for many groups throughout her retirement. She will be remembered for the organ music she shared in Eagle Grove and the Verona area. She was also an avid sports fan who followed all Major League Baseball, NHL, NFL, NBA, Hawkeye and Badger games.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Moffitt (Reba) of Eagle Grove, IA; her daughter, Chris Newcomb (Bob) of Verona, WI; grandchildren: Bret Newcomb (Rachel) of Middleton, WI, Erin Newcomb of Verona, WI, Sara Bartlett (Paul) of Verona, WI, Taylor Moffitt (Angila), Jordan Moffitt (Nicole) all of Eagle Grove, IA and Dr. Zachary Moffitt (Liz) of Norman, OK. Betty was especially proud of her great-grandchildren: Gus, Gretchen and Sadie Newcomb of Middleton, WI, Drew Bradley, Paige Elaine Bartlett both of Verona, WI, Adelie, Estella, Deirdre, Dolidh, and Clara Moffitt of Eagle Grove and Meredith and Max Moffitt of Norman, OK. Betty is also survived by her brother, Tom Pressler (Shay) of Bloomington, MN; her sister, Rosemary Mattoon of Medina, NY; brothers-in-law, Jim Moffitt (Mary) of Eagle Grove, IA, Ralph Moffitt (Jeanette) of San Antonio, TX and Max Ingle of Altoona, IA; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Parsons of Wichita, KS and Ann Moffitt of Tulsa, OK and by many nieces and nephews.

Betty passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010, at the St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center in Madison, WI, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duke; her sister, Jeanette Ingle and brothers-in-law, Roy Moffitt (Kitty) and Ed Moffitt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left in memory of Duke and Betty Moffitt (Scholarship Endowment) Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 262, Eagle Grove, Iowa 50533.
