Emmett Duane Fraser, 91, of Clarion passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, Minnesota. Funeral services for Emmett Fraser were held on Monday, December 14 at Holmes Lutheran Church in Holmes with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Emmett Duane Fraser, the son of Morris and Edith (Wampler) Fraser, was born on January 29, 1918 on the family farm near Holmes. He lived most of his life on the family farm attending school and graduating from Clarion High School. Emmett joined the Army on February 4, 1942, serving during WWII, and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1945. He was in the 24th Signal Corps in which he drove and maintained vehicles between message centers at various islands in the South Pacific. Emmett was united in marriage to Dorothy Glade on December 14, 1944 in Mason City. The couple made their home on the family farm until moving into Clarion in 2005. Emmett farmed from 1951 to 1969 and then took a position as parts manager at Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion until his retirement in 1983. Emmett was a member of the Holmes Lutheran Church. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially gardening. Emmett was dedicated to his family and has always continued to stay actively involved with his children and grandchildren's lives. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Emmett is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy, four children: Jeff (Kathy) Fraser of Orlando, Florida, Jeanne (David) Hilgendorf of Menahga, Minnesota, Dianne (Daniel) Janu of Perham, Minnesota and Phil Fraser of Belmond; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Berknes; good friend Glory Chapman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Bernice Anderson Hanson and Maxine Brinkman; and two brothers: Glenn Fraser and Don Fraser.
