Dean W. Harris, 80, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Cremation rites will take place at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Deacon Jeff Harris officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Dean is survived by his children, Sister Mary of Jesus OCD (Terri), Beth (Chuck) Gernhart, Coalville; Jeff (Nancy) Harris, Marshalltown; four grandchildren, Zane, Kara, Kate and Zoe. He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Ann, his sister Carol Lehman and his parents.

Dean William Harris, the son of Velzie and Zoe (Reichert) Harris, was born August 20, 1929 at Vincent. Dean graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1947. On February 9, 1950, Dean was united in marriage to Teresa Christensen. The couple later divorced. Dean was employed with the Fort Dodge Messenger, Fantles Department Store, the United States Postal Service and with the Wahkonsa Manor and Warden Plaza.
