John A. Lash of Lowell, Vietnam War vet; 62

LOWELL, MA--John A. Lash, a Lowell resident, died Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 62. Born in Clarion, Iowa on April 4, 1947, he was a son of the late Arthur Lash and Margaret Lash of Boone, Iowa who survives him.

John was a Navy veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a self employed drywall contractor, working throughout the Merrimack Valley for many years. John had an extensive model train collection, which he enjoyed building. He also loved landscaping which involved constructing and restoring rock walls.

Surviving him besides his mother, are four children, Meredith Price and her husband, Todd of Wesley-Chapel, FL, David Lash and his wife, Christina of Lowell, James Lash, Elizabeth Lash, both of Dracut; six grandchildren, Drew and Carly Price, Ocean and Attysen Lash, Jarred and Connor Lash; his former wife, Linda Lepine Lash of Dracut; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Marlene and Don Camp, Lyle and Lois Matthews, Larry and Lola Matthews, Ray and Louise Matthews, all of Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joyce Lash.

Relatives and friends may call at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday. His burial services will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon at a date and time to be announced.
