HAMPTON, IA -James W. Bobst, 71, of Hampton died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus, Mason City. Memorial services will be Friday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hampton with Rev. Bob Connor officiating. Family will greet friends on Thursday, March 11, from 4-8 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial will be at a later date in the Hampton Cemetery.
James was born May 30, 1932, in Franklin County to Albert W. and Edythe (Lindsay) Bobst. He graduated from Popejoy High School and received his degree from Iowa State University in Ames. He was part of the ROTC program at Iowa State University. James married Ardith Faber Hill in 1954, and later married Kathy Ann (Kate) Becker on April 15, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nev. James was in real estate sales and farm management. He was a member of the Hampton Rotary, Anchor Lodge, the Franklin General Hospital Board of Trustees, and the Franklin General Hospital Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Kate, of Hampton; three daughters, Angela Menning and husband Craig, Jane Haviland and husband Steven all of Hampton, and Debra Primus and husband Tim of Lakeville, Minn; two sons John and wife Kelli of Coralville and Randal of Lakeville, Minn.; three sisters Nada Bottke and husband Paul and Amy Campbell all of Iowa Falls, and Elsie Lycke and husband Dean of Alden; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dale and a sister Doris.
