Gladys E. (Dolly) Blank, age 89, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009. She was born February 23, 1920 in Williams, Iowa to the late Lester and Eva Guffey Fitchhorn. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, and graduated from San Juan Pharr Alamo High School in 1937. She married Clifford C. Blank in 1951 and moved to Victoria in 1956, where her husband established Blank Instrument Repair. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. She is survived by her son, Clifford C. Blank Jr. of Port O'Connor; sister, Marjorie Nickerson of Victoria; grandchildren, Tabitha Blank and Michael Herring of Victoria, Jana Herring of Austin, and James Hawkins of California; nephews, Robert Wommack of Bowie, Maryland, Lester Bevil Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; and niece, Barbara Droese of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Izetta (Suzie) Bevil; husband, Clifford C. Blank Sr.; daughter, Janelle Hawkins; and niece, Candice Miller. Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, September 25, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, with the Msgr. Michael Harrold officiating. The Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to her caring companions, Joelene, Erma, Carla, Eleanor, Deb, and Shell, and also to Dr. Rakesh Kathpalia and Crown Hospice for their compassion and treatment given to Dolly. Arrangements are with Colonial Funeral Home.
