MASON CITY - Ronda L. Pals, 66, of Mason City, died Sunday (Nov. 8, 2009) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a long, courageous battle with cancer and other health issues over the last thirteen years. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 11, 2009) at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating. Inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held 5 - 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa.

Ronda was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Belmond, the daughter of Marvin and Francis (Schmidt) Groen. She graduated from Meservey High School in 1960. Ronda married Delbert L. Pals on Jan. 28, 1961, and they lived their lives in Mason City. She worked at McDonald's and Alexander Batteries in Mason City. She liked camping with family and friends, watching NASCAR races, listening to country and western music and playing cards. Ronda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends - she was especially fond of her grandchildren - and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ronda is survived by her husband, Delbert L. Pals, of Mason City; sons, Marty Pals of Dodge Center, Minn., Scott Pals and wife, Kathy, of Kensett, and Lance of Mason City; grandchildren, Kyle, Alex and Ranae of Austin, Minn., Sierra of Manly and Rory, Peggy and Joey of Kensett; great granddaughter, Annalisa; mother, Frances A. Groen, of Mason City; mother-in-law, Bernita Pals, of Osage; and niece, Jennifer Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Groen; father-in-law, Daniel Pals; sister, Sheila Greenwood; and brother-in-law, Curtis Pals. Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, Mason City.
