Caroline Hanenburg, 98, Edgerton, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 10 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton with Pastor Gerrit Besteman officiating. Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren, Troy Hanenburg, Glynda Langeland, Lonna Driesenga, Maria Sytsma, Sara Koole, Leah Hanenburg and Abby Hanenburg. Casket bearers were Greg, Travis, Brian and Matt Hanenburg, Marlin Langland and Doug Koole. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Caroline Hanenburg was born Oct. 23, 1910 to Peter and Anna (Rozeboom) Roskamp on a farm near Kanawha, Wright County, Iowa. She was baptized at Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. She grew up on a farm with a large and loving family. In 1920 her family moved to Edgerton and began farming. She attended country school and helped on the family farm. She married Charles Hanenburg on Nov. 3, 1936 at “The Little Brown Church” in Nashua, Iowa. The couple owned and operated a feed grinding business until 1942 when they began farming near Edgerton. Charles died in 1989 and Caroline moved into the town of Edgerton later that same year. She moved to Edgebrook Apts. on Sept. 11, 2001 and in February of 2002, she became a resident at Edgebrook Care Center. She was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. She was active in the ladies aid.

She is survived by her children, Lee (Harriet) Hanenburg, Edgerton; Glenn (Jean) Hanenburg, Coopersville, Mich., and Daryl (Donna) Hanenburg, Edgerton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Vanden Bosch, Edgerton; Esther Trump, Pella, Iowa; Ramona (Eugene) Westera, Slayton and Joyce (Marvin) Tinklenberg, Edgerton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; infant daughter, Patricia; daughter, Charlotte Sue Knott; grandson, Troy Hanenburg; daughter-in-law Joyce Hanenburg; siblings, Clares Roskamp, Pearl De Koek Koek, Marie Shepherd, Minnie Walhof, Wilma Vanden Berg, Edna Loenhorst and two siblings in infancy.
