Ward B. Hamilton, 72, Humboldt, former district manager and former assistant to the general manager of the Iowa Public Service Company, died Monday night at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge. Ill for some time, he had been hospitalized since Aug. 19. Funeral services »re planned for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Humboldt Congregational Church. The Rev. Francis Burr will officiate, and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, with the Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt. Mr. Hamilton was born and reared at Clarion and, as a young man, was in the drug store business with his father at Clarion. In 1927, he joined the Iowa Public Service Company and continued with it until his retirement in 1956. He was a salesman in Humboldt from 1927-1930, then spent one year at Charles City, after which h« served for 19J4 years as district IPS manager at Emmetsburg. In 1950, he went to Sioux City as assistant to the general manager. Upon retirement eight years ago he came to Humboldt.

In 1916, he married Cecile Umbreit at Clarion. She survives as do one son, Charles of Oelwein, three grandchildren and one brother, Warren of Waterloo, Ind. Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Congregational Church and formerly belonged to the
Masonic Lodge, the York Rite orders, Rotary Club and Lions Club.
