September 3, 2009Funeral services for Roger L. Miller, 68, of Clarion were held August 29 at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove. Miller died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at his home in Clarion after a 5 1/2 year battle with lung cancer. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Roger was born November 20, 1940 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a 1958 graduate of North High School and a Marine Veteran. Roger was a truck driver for Kile Transfer and Crouse Cartage. He was a member of Grace Church while he lived in Des Moines. After moving to Clarion in 2003 he was employed part-time at Clarion-Goldfield schools as a bus driver and a part-time grain hauler for North Central Co-op in Clarion. He and Marla joined Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove shortly after moving to Clarion. Roger loved camping, fishing, landscaping and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most and foremost he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Marla; his children: Terri Lee (Chuck) Harding of Tucson, AZ, John R. (Leanne) Miller of Knoxville, Lisa (Clark) Johnson of Des Moines, Samantha (Lyle) Schultz of Melcher, Linda (Ray) Torre and Roy Graves of Des Moines; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The Patriot Guard has been asked to honor USMC veteran Roger Miller, 68, of Eagle Grove, IA. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 1220 S Commercial Ave (Hwy 17 on south edge of town), Eagle Grove, IA.
