Delmar E. Michehl, 85, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Vincent, with the Rev. William Van Nostrand officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation is Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Delmar is survived by his wife Beverly, his sons, Larry Michehl, Charles City; Keith (Annette) Michehl, Fort Dodge; three step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, siblings, Ralph (Margaret) Michehl, Marian (Allen) Dencklau, Delores Dencklau and Leila (Danny) Insko; brother-in-law Milan Macek, sister-in-law Evelyn Michehl and many nieces and nephews. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Darlene Macek, three brothers, Earl, Willis and Louis Michehl, and a brother-in-law Otto Dencklau Jr.

Delmar Emmett Michehl, the son of Louie and Ada (Ricke) Michehl, was born February 29, 1924, on a farm near Vincent. He received his education in the Colfax Township Schools. On March 25, 1951, Delmar was united in marriage to Beverly Showers at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Delmar was a lifelong farmer near Vincent and also was active with his carpentry work. Delmar was a resident of The Gardens at Friendship Haven since this past February. Delmar was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
