Leonard Christensen Funeral Held Here Tuesday, February 12, 1985

Funeral services for Leonard Christensen, 69, who died at his home in St. Ansgar, were held Tuesday, February 12, 1985 at First Lutheran Church here with the Reverend Thomas Hughes officiating.

Leonard Christensen was born September, 4, 1915 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Paul and Ane Christensen, who had emigrated from Denmark. He was baptized December 12, 1915 and spent his youth in Eagle Grove. He married Velva Hoffman May 16, 1938 in Renwick. They moved to St. Ansgar where they lived their entire married life. Mr. Christensen was confirmed at First Lutheran Church here November 30, 1941, and was a member of this church until his death. Two daughters were born to them. Mrs. Christensen died August 31, 1980. Mr. Christensen served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He loved nature, and was an avid sportsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed oil painting, photography and music. He was a self employed electrician, but was retired at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Velva, a daughter, Karen, four sisters and one brother. Mrs. Christensen is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Mary Ellen) Walk of Spencer; two grandsons, Stephen Michael and Christian Paul Walk of Spencer; a sister, Mrs. Erna Arsenoff of Eagle Grove; several nieces and nephews and friends. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery with Reverend Hughes in charge of committal sercices.
