The Rev. Cletus John Wessels, O.P., died at Providence Health Care Center in Minneapolis. Father was the son of the late John Henry and Barbara nee Muenzer Wessels. He is survived by his sisters, Cecilia McKone and Rosemary Wren; brother, Donald Wessels and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Larry Wessels and sisters, Dorothy Morgan, Frances Mandot, and Sister Mary Elsa, OSF. He was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Father made his profession as a Dominican friar in 1951 and was ordained a priest in 1957. During his life he served as a teacher and pastor. He was the President of Aquinas Institute of Theology in Dubuque, Iowa, now located in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was pastor of Saint Albert the Great Church in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, August 17, 2009, 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at CHURCH OF SAINT ALBERT THE GREAT, E 29th Street and 32nd Avenue S, Mpls. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dominican Society for Vocational Support, 2005 South Ashland Avenue, Chicago, IL 60608, for the education of young Dominicans. 3131 Minnehaha Avenue South.
