Ruth Alene Anna Nail, 77, of Kansas City, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at her home. She was born March 4, 1928, in Alma, a daughter of Edward and Wilhelmina Lehde Brammeier. On April 5, 1947, in St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Kansas City, she was married to William "Rusty" Nail, who died Aug. 1, 1996. Mrs. Nail grew up in Blackburn. She graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City. Mrs. Nail lived in Topeka, Kan.; Margate, England; Denver, Colo.; Tampa, Fla. and after her husband retired from the Air Force, she moved to south Kansas City, where she lived until her death. Mrs. Nail was a homemaker for most of her life. She worked for more than 20 years as an office manager at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base Officers' Club. She enjoyed playing card games, cooking, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and watching tennis. She was a member of Ivanhoe United Church of Christ, Church Women United and Silver Streaks in Raytown.
Surviving are two sons, John Nail, and his wife, Sherlyn, of Sedalia; and Ken Nail, and his wife, Kim, of Kansas City; three daughters, Linda Hobson, and her husband, Jerry, of Raytown; Nancy Nail, of Raytown; and Jeanette Nail, of Kansas City; a brother, Edgar Brammeier, of Ranson, W.Va.; a sister, Martha Von Holten, of Grandview; and 14 grandchildren, John Mehalko, of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine Anello, of Nixa, Jennifer McColgan, of Denver, Colo., Jason McColgan, of Raytown, Bryan Nail, of Bellingham, Wash., Sarah Daniel, of Sedalia, Katie Nail and Andy Nail, both of Kansas City, Sean Nail and Michael Nail, both of Del City, Okla., and Madeline Buechter and Daniel Buechter, of Raytown; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Rains, of Los Osos, Calif., and Amy Hobson, of Kansas City; six great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a son, David Nail; two sisters, Ova Coleman and Ethel Von Holten; and four brothers, Ralph Brammeier, Leonard Brammeier, Paul Brammeier and Raymond Brammeier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Park Lawn Chapel, with Dr. Ric Brightman officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Kansas City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice or Ivanhoe United Church of Christ in Kansas City in care of the funeral home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Mo., 64138.
