2 January 2004Violette Bateman, 88, of Lakewood, Colorado, a former Webster City resident, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at the Example Health Care-Lutheran Medical Center at Wheatridge, CO. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Local arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral Home.
Violette Mae Grady, daughter of Theodore and Rose Morrison Grady, was born May 16, 1915 at Huron, S.D. She moved with her parents to Woolstock and attended Woolstock Public School where she graduated. She attended a beauty school in Des Moines and owned and operated her own beauty salon in Webster City. On February 13, 1943, she married Jack Leonard Bateman at Orlando, FL. The couple resided at Spencer. They moved to Webster City in 1948. She had worked at Hahne Printing for 19 years before her retirement. Mr. Bateman died January 11, 1999. She had resided in Colorado since May 1, 1999.
Mrs. Bateman is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Jean Bateman of Frederick, CO; Diane and Carl Huerta of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Trent Bateman, Jill Haberkorn and Matthew Huerta; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucille Breitenkamp of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Daisy Campbell and Pansy Anama; brother, Loren Grady. Her memberships included- Trinity Lutheran Church; T.T.T. chapter B.A.; R.S.V.P.; Webster City Women's Club; Webster City Country Club.
