Robert W. Bicket, 76, of Reinbeck, died of natural causes Saturday, April 15, 2000, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, Union Congregational United Church of Christ, Reinbeck, by the Rev. Joel Love. Burial, with military honors: Reinbeck Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday at Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, where the family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Born Aug. 6, 1923, in Belmond, Iowa, Robert was the son of Lester T. and Inez L. Boughton Bicket. He was baptized in the Dinsdale Congregational Church by the Rev. Silas Wright in 1934. He graduated with the class of 1941 from Reinbeck High School. On Oct. 19, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and flew 56 combat missions in New Guinea, the Philippines and Luzon. Bob was awarded three bronze stars and the Air Medal for his service during the Asiatic-Pacific Theater campaign during World War II. He received a honorable discharge on Nov. 14, 1945. On Dec. 25, 1945, he was united in marriage to Constance I. "Connie" Harris at the United Methodist Church, Reinbeck. On Aug. 31, 1988, Bob retired as president of the Lincoln Savings Bank after having served 50 years with the bank. His career in banking began when he was yet a high school student posting customer accounts in 1938. After retirement, he continued as a director of the Lincoln Savings Bank and Lincoln Bancorp. Mr. Bicket was a member of United Church of Christ, Reinbeck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, on Nov. 25, 1991; and a brother, Kenneth. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. (Dr. John) Farr of Roseville, Minn., and Jane E. (Scott) Brees of Keota; three grandchildren, Josh Farr, Julie Meyer and Katie Brees; a sister, Marian L. Philp of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
