OBITUARY

Andrew Jacobson was born May 19, 1856 in Nerstrand, Norway. He came to America in 1885 and settled in Story county, Iowa for a time, after which he came to this county. He owned and worked a farm west of Belmond for many years. A few years back he retired to Belmond and resided here until his death.

Mr. Jacobson was married in 1891 to Mrs. Anna (Chelsvig) Johnson. To this union were born 5 children. Two have passed on. The surviving are; the widow, Mrs. Ole Sharpe, Mrs. Ben Melves and Bertha, who resides in Belmond with the mother. Three step children live to mourn the loss, viz; Tom Erickson, Mrs. Tom Sherson and Mrs. Henry Gallagher, and 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

Mr. Jacobson died suddenly Saturday morning, December 16 at 7 a.m. He took suddenly sick at midnight, when a doctor was called. After the treatment given to him he felt better and hopes were entertained for his recovery but in a moments time he fell into the sleep from which he never afterward awoke.

Mr. Jacobson had been suffering from a cold, but he never gave that much thought. Whether this contributed to the sudden demise no one can say. But a good father, husband and neighbor has passed away. The blow is felt all the more because it was so suddenly. It is naturally felt most by the wife and children but all who knew Mr. Jacobson will miss him greatly. He was of a very kindly diposition, cheerful and happy. He was a man young and old were pleased to meet.

Sympathetic hearts beat kindly and warmly for all who have been touched by his loss. But even so, only those who bear their burden of sorrow can fully appreciate what it means to part with a dear one and so quickly. We are reminded in this case of Jonathon's attitude to David in the parting hour where he uttered the words, "you will be missed because your seat will be empty."

But even in sorrow there is a refuge. Let us hope that the sorrowing will result to this. The God, who notes every sparrows fall doeth all things well. He has done what seemth best in this case difficult though it be for the afflicted to devine this now.

The deceased had many friends who will miss him. Let us hope our loss is his gain.

Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from Trinity church, Rev. J.M. Jensen officiating. Interment was made in the Belmond cemetery.
