5/15/1996MESERVEY, IA-- Fredona E. Hindman, 83, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Meservey, passed away Sunday (May 12, 1996) at the Sterling House, Leawood, Kan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating. Interment will be in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to church services. Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, is in charge of arrangements.
Fredona was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Meservey, the daughter of Fred and Joy Avery Lemke. She attended school in Meservey and graduated from Meservey High School. She then attended Iowa State and Iowa State Teachers College. On Sept. 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to Marvin C. Hindman in Clear Lake. The couple made their home in Meservey. In 1965, they left Meservey and moved to Cowgill, Mo., where they farmed and she taught Head Start. They retired in 1976 and moved to Rogers, Ark. In June of 1991, Marvin passed away. Fredona was a member of the Central Methodist Church, Rogers, Ark., and the Rogers Noon Lions Club.
Fredona is survived by her two sons, Larrie and his wife, Jeannie, of Leawood, Kan., and David and his wife, Polly, of Maysville, Mo.; two grandsons, Bryant and his wife, Rhonda, of Dallas, Texas, and Derek and his wife, Liz, of Orlando, Fla.; and one great-grandson, Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marvin.
