Joan C. Nelson

On June 20, 2009, our loving Mother went to be with our Lord. Mom passed away in Austin, Texas at the age of 79. She was born on 6/17/1930 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Gerald E and Bonnie Bell [Thomas] Ersland. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald O. Nelson, her parents and six siblings Joe, Jerry, John, Perry, Jean, and Julia. She graduated from high school in Clarion, Iowa and worked as a waitress, nursing asst., homemaker and Mother. She loved jitterbug dancing, gambling, bowling, lively spirits and having a great time. Joan is survived by her four children, Ricky D. Nelson, Penny L. Arnold (Gary), Ronnie D. Nelson, and Peggy R. Schweitzer (Robert); grandchildren, David K. Arnold (Jamilla), Tiffany Marie Arnold and Lindy Rae Schweitzer; her great-granddaughter D'Angela L. Arnold. Interment and memorial services will be held in Belmond, Iowa at the Belmond Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Donald O. Nelson.
