Lulu May Fordyce Kennedy

Lulu May Fordyce was born at Waubeek, Iowa, Aug. 15, 1866 and passed away January 10, 1928 at her home in Mount Vernon. She was the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Fordyce and the youngest of four children, all of whom preceded her in death, except one sister, Mrs. Eva Atkins of Marion, Iowa. Her brother, John Fordyce of Mount Vernon died in August of this past year. She was united in marriage to Eli Smith in 1889. To this union were born 3 daughters, all of whom survive their mother: Mrs. Alma Douglass of New Hampton, Iowa, Mrs. Hazel Calvert of Springville and Miss Mable Smith of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Eli Smith died in 1895. On September 15, 1897 she was united in marriage to John C. Kennedy. To this union were born two sons, William F. who gave his life in service of his country on Feb. 13, 1918 and Wesley N. of Clarion, Iowa. She is survived by her husband, four children, one sister and three grandchildren. Services were held in Springville. Burial was made in the Springville cemetery.
