Venetta Velda Lund, the daughter of Kris and Elsie (Hemmer) Anderson, was born April 12, 1923, in Hurley, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. Venetta was united in marriage to Norris S. Lund at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on February 23, 1962. She lived on the same farm near Thor for 40 years, moving to Eagle Grove in 2002 due to health reasons. Venetta was a Boy Scout Den Mother, enjoyed gardening, houseplants, playing Yahtzee and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She collected over 1,400 salt and pepper shaker sets. Venetta was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Venetta passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Leemen Patrick and Norris Lund; son, Charles Patrick; daughter, Patricia Sveinson; grandson, Travis Patrick; two brothers, Kermitt Anderson and Duane Anderson, and two sisters, Neldred Prewitt and Larrane Workman. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Hilpipre of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, Leon Hawke (Amy Remington), Danna Bohy (Jeff Thielen), Stacy Dimmick (Sue Palma), Shanna Meegan (Dave), Wade Sveinson (Debbie), Jason Sveinson (Laura), Kelly Patrick, Charlie Patrick, and Jessie Patrick; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
