Charles Sharp was born April 3, 1875, and departed this life April 22, 1925, at the age of 50 years and 19 days. He was married to Edna Miller, of Quincy, Ill., September 6, 1907, to which union six children were born. One preceded him in infancy to the great beyond. Besides the heart broken wife he leaves five children namely, Opal, Wayne, Robert, Emma and Vera; also two brothers and two sisters, James of Mason City, Iowa, Edward of Chicago, Mary Render of Francesville, Indiana, and Ada Johnson of Chicago, besides a host of relatives and friends who mourn his loss as he was loved and respected by all who knew him. The community was greatly shocked to hear of his sudden death although he had been ailing about two and one half months but continued at his regular work. He decided Monday evening to go to Chicago for a few days rest, where he took suddenly ill at the home of his sister, Mrs. Johnson, Wednesday evening at six, and passed away at 9:30 p.m. before his family could reach him. All was done that medical aid and loving hands could do, but his life work was done and our heavenly Father called him home. He united with the M.E. church at Popejoy, Iowa, in young manhood and remained true to his belief until the end.

Funeral services were held at the Lowell M.E. church Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. C.A. Brown, pastor of the church, preached the funeral sermon, The service at the cemetery was performed by the K. of P. lodge in charge of George Hoevet. The following members of the Knights of Pythias acted as pall bearers: Earle Pulver, Max L. Ragon, Edward Minninger, Delbert Hayden, Robert Scritchfield and Merrit Sprague. Interment in the Lowell cemetery, undertaker, William Sheets in charge.
