HUMBOLDT, IA - Bertha J. Jacobson, 74, of Humboldt, passed away Tuesday evening at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hardy with interment services in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hardy. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Mrs. Jacobson is survived by her sons, Gordon and Darrel Jacobson of Humboldt; granddaughter, Jaycie Jacobson of Fort Dodge; brothers, Charles (Joyce) Ekanger of Denver, CO, Ernie Ekanger of Hudson, SD; sister Esther (Art) Pederson of Kiester, MN; brothers-in-law, Nerland Jacobson of Omaha, NE and Carol Jacobson of Lake City; sisters-in-law, Darlene Jacobson of Algona and Norma Larson of Hardy. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and sister-in-law, Nancy Jacobson.

Bertha Jeannette Ekanger, the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Husby), was born August 16, 1934 in a farmhouse near Hudson, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in the Hudson area where she attended country schools and later graduated from L.B.I Academy. After her graduation she moved to Forest City where she was a nurses aide. On June 15, 1958 she was united in marriage to James Jacobson at Hudson, South Dakota. The couple made their home in the Hardy area, where James farmed for many years. Mr. Jacobson passed away in November of 1991 and Bertha continued to maintain the family home on the farm until moving into Humboldt Homes and a year later moving to the Humboldt Care Center North. Bertha was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hardy where she was active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing games, especially Yahtzee, she also enjoyed visiting with friends and family.
