Janice Fae Olson, 79, of Dawn, Mo., died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Livingston Manor Care Center, Chillicothe, Mo. Janice was born Aug. 9, 1929 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon Leslie Thomas and Blanche Marie Miller Thomas. On Sept. 4, 1946 Janice married her husband of 62 years, Donald Richard Olson at the Lutheran Church in Clarion, Iowa. He survives of the home. Janice and Donald farmed in Iowa and Minnesota before moving to the Dawn area. She was a member of the Braymer Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America. Janice was a life-long homemaker and enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles, singing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; six children, Jerry Olson, Dawn, Mo., Edna Riley and husband Dale, Geneva, N.Y., Neota Erdahl and husband Dennis, Lacey, Wash., Eugene Olson, Dawn, Mo., Brian Olson and wife Neva, Chillicothe, Mo., and Alvern Olson and wife Beth, Bella Vista, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daryl Olson and a sister, Neola Billman.

A funeral service will be held at the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, Mo., on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Mo. A family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo., on Friday, June 12, 2009. Memorials in honor of Janice Olson may be made to the Braymer Baptist Church Mission Fund and may be left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo.
