Margaret M. Anderson, 90, Tucson, Ariz., passed away on May 22, 2009, at Carondelet Hospice in Tucson. Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Center, followed by a funeral Mass at 11am and internment at Calvary Cemetery.

Margaret Foley, daughter of Leo and Irma (Bates) Foley, was born August 15, 1918, in Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936. She was employed at the dental office of Dr. H. D. Wold. On November 24, 1939, she married Ed. C (Bud) Anderson at the St. Thomas Aquinas Rectory. Bud and Margaret farmed northwest of Webster City until retirement in 1986 when they became permanent residents in Tucson.

Survivors include 6 children, Dick (Judy), Phoenix; Kathy (Jim) Hisler, Webster City; Carole (LeRoy) Proctor, Tucson; Dennis (Diane), Tucson; Bill, Clarion; Mike (Linda), Story City; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters-in law Dorothy Foley and Doris Stearns, and brother-in-law Virgil Scott, all of Webster City and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, sons Mark and John, brother Russell Foley and sister Mary Scott.

Margaret was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas, Catholic Daughters, Webster City Country Club, 4-H leader and member of Hamilton County Extension Council, and CFM. Her hands were never idle. Along with raising her family and helping with farm life, she was very artistic, an excellent seamstress and a very talented musician. She started as an organist & pianist at St. Thomas when in high school. She was a music volunteer at Woolstock Schools and helped coordinate the music program there. She taught piano and organ lessons to many young people in the community and shared her love of music at many local festivities. She continued as organist at Our Lady of Fatima in Tucson until rheumatoid arthritis made it impossible for her to play. She loved nature and enjoyed taking her children and grand children on her Spring walk along the Boone River. Many friends and neighbors in the area started their Boone River canoe trip at the Anderson farm. When she could no longer golf, she enjoyed watching golf tournaments on TV and became an avid Arizona Diamondbacks baseball fan. Even as her health declined, her good humor, positive attitude, and quick wit were an inspiration to all who knew her. Memorials may be given in Margaret's name to the Arthritis Foundation or St. Thomas Aquinas School music program.
