ROCKWELL, IA - Earl Marvin Zieman, 84, of Rockwell died Thursday (April 30, 2009) at his home. A funeral service for Earl will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the First Wesleyan Church, 913 Main St. S., Charles City, with Pastor Matthew Hoveland and Pastor Dennis Bachman officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the church.

Earl Marvin Zieman was born on Aug. 31, 1924, in Meservey, the son of John and Tina (Smith) Zieman. He received his education in the Rockford Community Schools, graduating from Rockford High School. Earl farmed and raised black Angus beef cattle all his life in the Rockford area until his retirement. Earl enjoyed blue grass music, going to auctions, sale barns and thrashing.
He was a member of the Wesleyan Church and was a former member of the church council in Rudd.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna Zieman of Rockwell; his son, Dan Zieman of Rockwell; grandchildren, Jesse and Jacob Zieman of Rockwell, Justin and Alex Morris of Wake Forrest, N.C., and Mindy Zieman of Lake Mills; several nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family members and friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marvin Zieman; brother, Lloyd Zieman; sister, Wilma Sherburn; brothers-in-law, Paul Grube and Harold Sherburn; and sister-in-law, Janet Zieman.
