EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Gwendolyn A. Peterson, 85, formerly of Mason City, passed away peacefully Monday (June 1, 2009) at Our House Memory Care in Eau Claire, Wis. Gwendolyn was born, Gwendolyn Agnes Bohning on May 14, 1924, in Belmond to the late Andrew and Henrietta (Frohling) Bohning. Following her birth were her two sisters, Barbara and Karen. She married her beloved husband, James R. Peterson, on April 10, 1954, in Springdale, Ark.
Gwendolyn was a loving mother to her three children, Christine, Kurt and Lynnette. She was employed by the USDA in Fargo, N.D., for many years until her retirement in 1987. Gwendolyn valued the many friendships she made while working at the USDA. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, James, her children and four grandchildren as well as spending summers at the lake in Vergas, Minn., and winters in Mesa, Ariz.
She survived by her loving husband, Jim, of Eau Claire, Wis.; children, Christine (Mike) Tandberg of Elk Mound, Wis., Lynnette (Mark) Talge of Overland Park, Kan., and Kurt Peterson of Devils Lake, N.D.;grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron and Alex Tandberg and Evan Peterson; sisters, Barbara (Loren) Snyder of Des Moines, Karen (Ron) Carpenter of Holmen, Wis., and nieces, nephews and many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Evergreen Funeral Home 4611 Commerce Valley Road Eau Claire, WI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northwest Wisconsin HomeCare and Hospice.
