Edna Scheuermann
Oroville, California and formerly of Oskaloosa, IowaEdna passed away Sunday evening, at Prestige Assisted Living in Oroville at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 2 days. Edna Matusick Scheuermann, daughter of Michael and Mae Chilton Matusick, was born February 27, 1915, in Rose Hill, Iowa. Her family moved to Eldon, Iowa, where she was a graduate of Eldon High School. She attended and graduated from a beauty school in Des Moines and then returned to Oskaloosa. She married John H. “Dutch” Scheuermann September 22, 1945, in Clarion, Iowa. They made their home in Oskaloosa where Edna operated The Modern Beauty Shop from the 1940’s to the 1980’s. Edna was professionally active as a beautician for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church where she was active in many groups. She enjoyed working in her garden.
Edna is survived by four nephews, John and his wife, Helka Gordon of Wilsonville, Oregon; Tom and his wife, Betty Matusick of Ottumwa, IA; Bud and his wife, Joan Broerman of Savanna, GA; and Bruce Broerman of Chicago, IL; and two nieces: JoAnn and her husband, Roger of Destin, FL; and Linda and her husband, Ron Harden of New Sharon, IA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dutch October 8, 1991, a brother, Mike Matusick and a sister, Eda Stump.
Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church. Visitation: Will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday morning, November 06, 2006 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be at the chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service, to greet visitors. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Monday morning, November 06, 2006 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Dean of the Central United Methodist Church officiating. Interment: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
